SUMMARY Jem and Scout decided to sleep outside one night, until Scout thought f Jem being more of a girl than her. Jem and Dill had gone with Atticus to the Robinson's home, a few days after Tom's death. They both stayed outside, but Dill could hear a little of the conversation. Atticus had told his apologies to the wife and told her what happened and went to see if everything was alright. In this chapter, Dill thinks about what could've happened if Tom hadn't died and succeeded at his escaping. Thinking about why Tom escaped so soon without a moment's thought. To Scout, whatever happened in the County, the word would be spread around.
Helen Robinson- Helen Robinson is the widowed wife of Tom Robinson. She has three children, and was harrased by Bob Ewell on her way to work.
Tom Robinson- Tom Robinson is a 25 year old black man, married to Helen Robinson. He was accused of raping Mayella Ewell and sentenced guilty.
While trying to escape from prosecution he is shot 17 times and is killed.
Atticus Finch- Atticus Finch has two children, Jem and Scout. he is a lawyer and is given the case to defend Tom Robinson on the Rape of Mayella Ewell trial.
He is a widowed single parent.
Jeremy (Jem) Finch- Brother of Scout and son of Atticus. 4 years older then his sister Scout. He is very brave.
Jean Louise (Scout) Finch- Daughter of Atticus, younger sister of Jem. Scout was the only kid to see Boo Radley. She is also very smart for her age,
which gets her into trouble at school. She unintentionally stopped potential lynchs, and is only six years old. "Engaged" to Dill Harris.
Mr. Underwood- Mr. Underwood is a news reporter and a friend of Atticus Finch. He owns and publishes THE MAYCOMB TRIBUNE. He is also a racist.
Bob Ewell- His daughter is Mayella Ewell. He is accusing Tom Robinson of the rape and abuse to his daughter. He spits in Atticus's face and also
attacked his children Jem and Scout, resulting in his death by Boo Radley.
Dill Harris- He can read. Dill comes to maycomb to visit his aunt for the summer. "Engaged" to Scout Finch. He has parental issues and doesnt
have a father. Becomes close friends with Scout and Jem.
